Hi Everyone, and welcome back to a new school year!

This half term we will be working on performance pieces for the annual ‘Harmonica Festival’ on 25th October. Each school will be preparing a tune to perform at the children’s competition, which starts at 10am. If you are unsure about which tune your child should be working on please contact their teacher here. 

The Harmonica Festival takes place every year at the Folk House, on Park Street in the centre of Bristol. The festival lasts for the entire weekend, and you can come to as much or as little of it as you like, but the HarpsCool competition is on the Sunday morning. There are trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, and lots of other prizes too! 

After half term we will be focusing on Christmas music. The teachers will be using tunes from the ‘Funky Christmas’ book, as well as others from the ‘Tunes’ page.

If your child has only recently started learning the harmonica they may well start by learning the tunes from ‘Funky Nursery’ (which is the book that came with their ‘starter pack’). Just in case you don’t have this, it can be downloaded in full from here.
