I started playing the Piano at the age of 8 and Clarinet at 9. I proceeded up to grade 8 on both instruments alongside playing in orchestras, concert bands and taking part in local piano duet competitions. I learnt guitar at primary school but didn’t take it further when the Clarinet and Piano took over.
I discovered the Harmonica by accident in a way as mine was a gift to my Granddad but he preferred his old one so I took the opportunity to start playing. I think it is a great instrument and I find it to be incredibly versatile. It is compact in size and can pick up melodies and rhythm with ease.
I continue to perform on the Clarinet and also have recorded and performed with a Rock/blues/country band in Scotland. I gain a lot of fulfillment from playing music and I enjoy enabling others to discover the same. I currently teach Clarinet, Piano and Harmonica and am also trained as an Art therapist.
