Her Majesty’s Estyn Inspectors awarded Aidan an “excellent” rating (that is the top grading folks) for his tuition. They observed him teaching a whole class at “The College”, Ystrad Mynach (F.E.). Estyn is the Welsh equivalent of Ofsted.

Aidan first worked for “The Ben Hewlett Harmonica School” (HarpsCool) in 2004.
He has almost twenty years tutelage experience delivering a variety of learning programmes to both mainstream and specific learning groups.
He is a fully qualified teacher (PGCE, University of Wales). He loves to play harmonica. Since he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in illustration he is certainly very experienced at  “DRAWING”. (just a little harmonica joke there).  It was Aidan who first suggested the name “HarpsCool” to Ben.

He really enjoys working with the children, encouraging them as they develop their nascent harmonica skills. Aidan is very enthusiastic and wants everyone to enjoy learning his classes.

Besides being a harmonica teacher, he is also a community workshop leader, song-writer, recording artist and a musical performer. He has appeared on TV, Radio, two cinematic releases (“movies” appearing in one film and contributing to both soundtracks) and plays at venues and festivals across the UK and abroad. One of his tracks appears on the HarpsCool Mastermix CD.

He is from a very musical family; many of relations are currently or were previously musical performers. For example, the well-known Irish session tune “Sheehan’s Reel” was penned by his aunt Alice Sheehan. His dad (a harmonica-band member) taught a very young Aidan to play his first harmonica tunes. He hasn’t stopped playing harmonica since. Aidan loves sharing his harmonica-knowledge with all his students. He sees each week how they grow in confidence, becoming real musicians and able PERFORMERS very quickly.

Aidan says “HARMONICAS ARE GREAT. BE HAPPY – LEARN ONE WITH ME TODAY!”
